A statement from Mn/DOT Commissioner Thomas K. Sorel:

The arbitrator issued a decision today in the appeal of Sonia Morphew Pitt regarding her discharge from employment with the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The decision affirmed that Mn/DOT had just cause for the discharge.

Mn/DOT appreciates the diligent work of the Department of Employee Relations in representing the department during the arbitration proceedings.

This decision brings closure to the issue. It is unfortunate when serious misconduct occurs but now is the time for Mn/DOT to move forward and continue its service to the state.
